Deal
Yuno Advisors advised Gerard Sterkenburg and the management of PS in Foodservice, the central product specification database and market standard for product and chain information within the Dutch foodservice sector, on the sale of the company to Swedish company Matilda FoodTech, which is supported by investment company Monterro.
The company, founded in 2002, gained momentum with the introduction of allergen legislation in 2014. Since then, end users and producers have chosen PS in Foodservice as their standard supplier of product data. The PS Impact Score is PS’s most recent product innovation and was launched in 2023, partly thanks to a new EU sustainability regulation (CSRD) and strong demand for greater transparency from caterers and foodservice parties in the area of sustainability.
The acquisition by Matilda Foodtech will enable PS to further expand its growth and better serve its customers, both in the Netherlands and abroad. Matilda FoodTech has acquired the entire share capital, with Gerard remaining involved as an advisor and joining the management as a shareholder of Matilda Foodtech.
Role of Yuno Advisors
Yuno acted as exclusive financial advisor to Gerard Sterkenburg and the management team of PS in Foodservice. Yuno guided the company throughout the entire process, focusing on coordinating the international buyer audience, structuring the overall transaction and ultimately advising on management participation.
Our services included general deal coordination, organising the (international) bidding process, drawing up a letter of intent/term sheet, coordinating the due diligence investigation and negotiating the transaction documentation.
About PS in Foodservice
PS in Foodservice is the central product specification database and market standard for product and chain information within the Dutch foodservice sector. Through its platform, PS connects a broad network of producers, wholesalers and customers with up-to-date, reliable information on topics such as allergens, nutritional values, logistics, sustainability and health.
With a database covering 87% of producer volume in the Netherlands and a growing presence in Belgium and other European markets, PS is an essential partner in the sector. The company generates its income through annual subscriptions for processing product information on the platform. In addition, producers can have the CO2 footprint of their products calculated using the PS Impact Score at an additional cost.
