Sale Crème de la Cream to Portion Pack Europe / Südzucker AG

Yuno Advisors has advised the shareholders of Crème de la Cream (“CDLC”) – a company offering co-packing and full-service co-manufacturing solutions in small sized packaging food products – with the sale to Portion Pack Europe, a subsidiary of Südzucker AG specialised in the field of small portion food packaging.

CDLC (www.cdlc-group.com), founded in 1946 and located in Zaandam, offers co-packing and full-service co-manufacturing solutions to B2B and B2C customers in the field of small sized packaging and new production introductions. The company mainly works for major national and international third-party brands and retail chains (private labels). In addition, the own brands (a.o. Crème de la Cream, SQZD and Tammi) can be found in various countries and retail channels. The company has a flexible and broad product portfolio including a.o. grain products, toppings, milk powders, lemonade syrups and healthy snacks which are available in many packaging formats ranging from 0.5gr to 2kg.

Portion Pack Europe (www.portionpackeurope.com), part of Südzucker’s Special Products division, specialises in developing, packaging and marketing portion packs. This division was founded in 1998 and has since become the European market leader in portion packs with an extensive portfolio of food and non-food products. The group is a co-operation of seven companies, operating from Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK and South Africa.

Südzucker (www.suedzucker.de) is a major player in the food industry and Europe’s number one supplier of sugar products with 23 sugar factories and two refineries throughout Europe. The Special Products segment covers functional ingredients for food and animal feed (BENEO), chilled & frozen products (Freiberger) and portion packs (PortionPack Europe). Südzucker CropEnergies is Europe’s leading producer of a.o. renewable ethanol. Furthermore, the group covers Starch (AGRANA) and the segment Fruit as the world market leader for fruit preparations and leading supplier of fruit juice concentrates in Europe. In the book year 2021/2022, Südzucker employed about 18,000 persons and generated revenues of about € 7.6 billion.

Our advisory consisted of a company valuation, drafting of information memorandum and other project documentation, general project coordination, realization of a letter of intent, managing of the due diligence process, structuring of the transaction and deal negotiations.
