Our Experience
Yuno has broad experience in transactions across the full ingredients value chain, from commodity trading and blending operations to specialist functional and natural ingredients producers.
In 2025, we advised the shareholders of Inproba on its sale to VE Partners.
In 2022, we advised on the sale of Crème de la Cream to Portion Pack Europe, a subsidiary of Südzucker AG.
In 2021, we advised BIC International on the sale of its Ingredients division to AAK, the Swedish publicly listed specialty fats and oils company. In 2019, we advised AAK on its acquisition of Remia’s MaasRefinery vegetable oil refinery.
In earlier years, we advised a Dutch specialist in functional ingredients on a pan-European search for acquisition candidates across specific market niches and guided a potential M&A transaction. We have also assisted both strategic and financial buyers in acquisitions of single and compound ingredients businesses including spices, bakery ingredients, savoury ingredients, meat ingredients, and organic and natural ingredients trading companies. In a previous position, we advised Van Sillevoldt on the sale of Silvo to US-based McCormick. The transaction formed part of the continued consolidation of the European herbs, spices and seasonings market.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are current M&A themes in the Dutch food ingredients sector?
The Dutch food ingredients sector is characterised by ongoing consolidation among trading companies and blenders, driven by margin pressure and the increasing sourcing power of large food manufacturers. Strategic buyers are actively acquiring businesses with proprietary formulations, certified organic or natural (plant-based) positioning, or access to specific raw material supply chains.
What are typical valuation multiples in the Dutch food ingredients sector?
Valuation multiples in the food ingredients sector typically range from 5x to 9x EBITDA. Commodity traders and blenders without proprietary products tend to trade at the lower end, while businesses with differentiated formulations, strong customer relationships or certified supply chains command multiples at the higher end of the range.
What are typical value drivers in a food ingredients business?
Key value drivers include proprietary formulations or blends, a diversified and loyal customer base, certified supply chains such as organic or non-GMO, and the ability to serve multiple end markets across bakery, meat, savoury and foodservice. Customer concentration and dependence on commodity price fluctuations are the most common valuation risk factors in the sector.
